Check these pages to find out what's going on in class and what's new... :)
I have attached pages for work that is due, worksheets we have completed in class and a help section.
If you have a printer at home and want to print off the worksheets, just click on the square on the bottom right hand corner and you will be taken to another page where you can print the page. Otherwise, they can just copy the question down and complete it on their own piece of paper.
Also, if your student is struggling with how to complete a math activity/assignment, click on the Math Help page. I also try to put videos on the page that will assist parents as well. The way the work is done in the videos is not always the same as what I teach in class, but it's another way of getting to the right answer. If the video ever confuses or frustrates your student, please leave it and have them talk to me the next day for clarification.

HOMEWORK...?
If your student is coming home with little or no homework, and I have not contacted you, that's great! Most work can be completed in the time allowed in class. There will of course, be some exceptions, ie., studying for tests/quizzes, project work or not focusing on the task and therefore having homework. However there is more and more research challenging the need for mindless homework vs meaningful classroom work.
I have attached an excerpt written by Alfie Cohen on the need for homework. It's an interesting read. The teachers of SD73 went to hear him speak and he rocked our understanding of the role of homework. |
